Discussions that were held between the Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA) and estate managers concerning the wage increase of estate workers have ended in a stalemate.
This was due to the rufusal of estate managers to pay a daily allowance of Rs 140 to estate workers.
The meeting had taken place at Temple Trees yesterday (Feb 07) since allowances amounting upto Rs 140 were removed from the latest wage revision which saw the basic wage being increased upto Rs 700.
Meanwhile, TPA parliamentarians have announced that they would resign from their ministerial portfolios if the said allowance was not provided to the workers'.
