Ten families in the Ragala area in Nuwara Eliya were evacuated after landslide warnings were issued yesterday (Dec 4), the Disaster Management Centre said.
The National Building Research Organisation yesterday issued evacuation warnings to certain areas in the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts. Residents of Badulla, Kandy and the Ratnapura districts have also been urged to remain vigilant for any sign of landslides.
Today’s weather forecast has predicted heavy rains more exceeding 100 mm across the Northern, Eastern, North Central, Uva, and Central Provinces.
In addition, the Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and Western Provinces are also likely to receive rainfall between 75 to 100 mm during the day.
