Chairman of the Talawakele-Lindula Urban Council Ashoka Sepala and nine other councillors joined the United National Party (UNP) yesterday (Mar 12).
Mr. Sepala had contested as an independent candidate at the last local government polls as he failed to receive nomination via the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).
The councillors received their memberships from UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe flanked by Minister Navin Dissanayake at the occasion.
Accordingly, the UNP now holds the majority of seats in the Talawakele-Lindula Urban Council.
