Out of 326,264 students who sat for the grade 5 scholarship examination this year, ten students have obtained 200 out of 200 marks and another 20,250 students are eligible for scholarships, the Examinations Department said.
Hinuda Sasmith from Bandaragama Medimaha Vidyalaya, Devli Thilakaratne from Ingiriya Sumanajothi Junior School, Yehara Yethmini from Girls High School in Kandy, Siyathi Vithumsa from Sangamiththa Girls School in Galle, Tashidu Kavishan from Tangalle Primary School, Mohommed Ammar from Zahira College, Colombo , Senudi Damsari from Eheliyagoda Primary School, Sihath Sandinu from Arawwala Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Dovindu Viranjith from Embilipitiya President’s College and Thenuja Manumitha from Dimbulagala Siripura Primary School obtained full marks at the examination.
This year, the examination was held in 2936 examination centres island-wide amidst curfew imposed due to the COVID-19 second wave. Three students from quarantine centres, two COVID-infected students and three students from Maharagama Apeksha Cancer Hospital sat for the examination, the Department said.
