Sri Lankan workers seeking employment in Japan would be granted a decade long visas, Foreign Employment Minister Harin Fernando said yesterday (Aug 8).
Addressing an event for foreign workers titled 'Ran Piyapath', Mr. Fernando observed that the recent agreements signed between Sri Lanka and Japan to grant employment for Sri Lankan’s has not been a easy task.
"This is a good opportunity for Sri Lankans since they (Japan) have a huge elderly population," he stated.
The foreign employment minister further stated that the government intends to send workers to Japan in a bid to resolve the issued faced by Sri Lankans in the middle east.
