Thirty individuals have been arrested for vandalising a stage following a musical concert in Bandarawela yesterday (Jan 23).
The concert was organised by a group of youth in the area who had hired a popular band to perform at the event.
A tense situation arose when the spectators had requested the band to perform a few more songs when the concert was to conclude at 10 pm.
According to the Police, the singers and the musicians had fled the scene when the spectators had hurled bottles, stones, and other objects such as chairs at the crew.
This incident resulted in a few people being injured while also causing damages to the musical instruments on stage.
The suspects are due to be produced before the Bandarawela Magistrates Court today (Jan 24).
