Thirty four students from two schools were arrested today (March 01) for behaving recklessly and damaging property belonging to the Methodist College school in Kollupitiya, Police said.
The students who started lighting fire crackers damaged two gates belonging to the school, several school vehicles and other property.
The arrested students were from schools in Mount Lavinia and Bambalapitiya. Further, the Police said the students who arrived in vehicles behaved irresponsibly.
Accordingly Police have arrested the students on the complaint made by the Principal of the girls' school. The students will be handed over to their parents after statements have been recorded, Police said.
