Thotalanga protestors cleared from road
The Sri Lanka-Japan Friendship Bridge in Thotalanga, which had been blocked by protestors since last afternoon, has now been opened for traffic, police confirmed.
Traffic along the road had been at a standstill since last evening, after a group of persons staged a protest near the bridge against the removal of some illegal constructions in the area.
Protestors were still blocking the bridge this morning, causing severe traffic congestion, before police moved into clear them from the location.
