Three close associates of underworld criminal 'Angoda Lokka' have been arrested in connection to the killing of two persons in Hanwella this week.
Officers attached to the Hanwella Police and Western Province (South) Investigations Unit had arrested the suspects after analyzing telephone records of the victims, Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said.
The suspects are alleged to have aided in the killing of two persons by opening fire at a trader and his driver on August 25.
Police have identified the suspects as S. Waruna Kumara, 32 - a resident of Salamulla, Ajith Premalal, 28 - a resident of Angoda, and Gayan Dharshana - 31, a resident of Mulleriyawa.
Mr. Gunasekara noted that 250 grams of a narcotic identified as 'Ash' and a SIM card which had been used to threaten the trader through a telephone call had been recovered from the suspect Ajith Premalal.
The suspects are to be produced before the Avissawella magistrate's court seeking a detention order, the police spokesman added.
