Three Chinese nationals have been fined Rs 25,000 each for capturing photographs of the Horton Plains national park using a drone camera yesterday (Mar 25).
The penalty was imposed on the tourists when they were produced before the Nuwara Eliya Magistrates Court today.
A team of officials at the National Park had caught the suspects while they were capturing photographs of the park using a drone camera without obtaining permission from the authorities.
The law prohibits an individual from capturing images of the park using a drone without obtaining prior permission from park authorities.
Meanwhile, the drone camera has been ordered to be placed in the custody of the court until March 28 for further investigations.
