Three killed in Ratnapura accident
Two men and a woman were killed and six others injured after a head-on collision between a car and a double cab at Batugedara Junction in Ratnapura last night.
The car had been on its way towards Colombo from Ampara while the double cab was traveling towards Pelmadulla from Colombo when the incident occurred at about 11.50pm, Police Media Unit said.
All three persons who died were inside the car. They were aged 45, 60 and 80 years. They are all residents of Ampara. The driver of the vehicle is among the dead.
The two deceased males were from the same family, police further said.
The bodies are currently at the Ratnapura Hospital and a post-mortem examination is due to be conducted today. Another female from the same family who was in the car, along with five persons who were in the double cab are currently being treated at the Ratnapura Hospital for their injuries. Ratnapura Police are investigating.
