Three-member committee to address waste management issues

Cabinet approval has been granted to set-up a committee on waste management in the country.

The three-member committee will be tasked with proposing measures that could be taken to resolve waste disposal issues faced at present.

As previous recommendations were not implemented successfully due to opposition from various parties, this committee will be tasked with putting forward recommendations on measures that could be taken to structure the waste management process.

The members of the committee are as follows :

Vajira Abeywardena - Minister of Internal & Home Affairs and Provincial Councils & Local Government
Patali Champika Ranawaka - Minister of Megapolis and Western Development
Harsha de Silva - Non-cabinet Minister of Economic Reform and Public Distribution
