A fire broke out along the Old Kandy Road in Nuwara Eliya last afternoon, Police said.
Swift measures were taken by the police and the Nuwara Eliya urban council to dispatch fire trucks to contol the fire along with the assistance of area residents.
Police noted that 03 shops in the area were completely destroyed due to the fire although no casualties have been reported so far.
Nuwara Eliya Police are conducting further investigations to determine the cause of the fire.
