The Election Commission (EC) has decided to take legal action against three state institutions for violating election laws, a senior official said.
Among the institutions are the Minstry of Housing, Construction and Cultural Affairs, Ministry of Education, and the Department of Samurdhi Development operating under the Ministry of Social Empowerment.
Meanwhile, the state-owned Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) and Independent Television Network (ITN) have been issued final warnings to avoid providing biased coverage of presidential candidates.
The senior official noted that legal action would be taken against the state media outlets if they fail to take heed of the warnings.
