Three-year old dies after tree falls on victim

A three-year old girl died yesterday (Dec 31) while receiving treatment for her injuries after a tree had fallen on her head in Mamulai, Mullaitivu on December 23.

The child had been receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Puttalam Teaching hospital during which she succumbed to her injuries following surgery which was unsuccessful.

The tree is reported to have fallen on the victim due to the inclement weather conditions that were experienced in the area at the time of the incident.

The victim was immediately rushed to the Puttalam General Hospital following which she was transferred to the Puttalam Teaching hospital for further treatment.
