Sagala Abeywickrama, the new Chairperson of the Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation, has said it is timely to begin exploring options of exporting Sri Lankan Ayurvedic medicine.
"The world is showing a developing interest towards Ayurvedic medicine. We should enhance its popularity by uplifting the Ayurvedic Drugs Corporation," she said after assuming office today (Dec 27).
The newly-appointed Chairperson highlighted that Ayurveda medicine needs to be protected as it is a part of Sri Lanka's heritage.
Abeywickrama, an Attorney-at-Law, had once served as the Personal Secretary to former State Housing Minister Geethanjana Gunawardena in 2008.
