Parliamentarian Prof Tissa Vitharana has been appointed Chairman of the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) today. Prof. Vitarana's name proposed by State Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna and seconded by Minister Udaya Gammanpila.
The members of the committee: Minister Udaya Gammanpila, State Ministers Duminda Dissanayake, Dayasiri Jayasekara, Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Sudarshini Fernandopulle, Shehan Semasinghe, Prasanna Ranaweera, Tissa Attanayake, Harin Fernando, Niroshan Perera, Faizal Cassim, Ashok Abeysinghe, Buddhika Pathirana, K. Kader Masthan and Sivagnanam Shritharan.
The COPA is mandated to oversee the public expenditure of state institutions following the approval of the Parliament.
Prof. Tissa Vitharana, said that the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) will be opened to the media.
