Mano Tittawella, a professional with rich public and private sector experience who was Director General in the Office of President Chandrika Kumaraunga, has been appointed Secretary-General of the Secretariat for Coordinating Reconciliation Mechanisms (SCRM).
The Secretariat will coordinate national level discourses on reconciliation mechanisms; develop a plan with specific dates to establish reconciliation mechanisms such as ‘Office on Missing Persons’ and ‘Truth, Reconciliation and Prevention of Conflicts Commission’; co ordinate with local institutions such as Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission and international institutions such as the Office of the High Commissioner of Human Rights (OHCHR); follow-up progress and coordinate implementation of the recommendations of the reports of the OHCHR.
Tittawella was Director-General of the Public Enterprise Reform Commission; Chairman of the Strategic Enterprise Management Agency; and Chairman of the Task Force to Rebuild the Nation. An MBA, he is currently Chairman and Managing Director of EAP Holdings, a leading conglomerate, and was CEO of Lanka Securities and Head of Research at Jardine Fleming Securities Sri Lanka.(The New Indian Express)
