UPDATE : The Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) sittings in which senior police and intelligence officers were expected to testify has been postponed until July 24.
These officials had initially been informed to appear before the Committee tomorrow (Jul 12). However, sittings had been postponed since some witnesses were abroad and some others had other official commitments.
Top police and intelligence service officials have been asked to appear before the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) probing the Easter Sunday attacks tomorrow (Jul 12), Committee Chairman Ananda Kumarasiri said.
Senior DIG of the State Intelligence Service Nilantha Jayawardena, Senior DIG of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Ravi Senaviratne, and CID Director Shani Abeysekera are among these officials, Mr. Kumarasiri said.
He said the Director General of the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) Waruna Jayasundara, and TID Police Inspector Tharanga Pathirana have also been asked to appear before the PSC.
Committee sittings are expected to begin at 9:30 am, but is unlikely to be open to the media, Mr. Kumarasiri noted adding that audio recordings of the session would be handed over to the media afterward.
