Sri Lanka’s Tourism Ministry is in discussion with the Health Ministry in allowing limited tourist arrivals for a proposed upcoming sports event.
These are part of the plans in gradually considering tourists to eventually visit the country amidst the COVID-19 situation.
Secretary to the Ministry of Tourism S. Hettiaarachchi said that they were planning to allow small groups to visit the country for the proposed Lanka Premier League (LPL) which has been postponed to November.
He said small groups will be allowed to visit the country and stay in the same hotels, witness the Cricket matches as a group and restrict their movements as a group.
However, further details need to be discussed with the Health Ministry, he said.
