The traffic lane system was today expanded to the outstations on a trial basis with plans to introduce it to other areas of the country, police said.
Accordingly the lane system was tried out in the Galle and Matara areas today.
Police said, similar to the plans in the Colombo city, the system would be introduced on a trial basis before going on to impose fines on those violating the regulation.
In Colombo, police continued to try out the system and has decided that those violating the regulation will be called to attend classes conducted by the police on traffic regulations without imposing fines.
However, from next week police hope to start imposing fines.
