Two police officers attached to the Colombo City Traffic Division have been interdicted over a video broadcast over television channels showing police subjecting four individuals caught without curfew passes to degrading treatment.
The incident had occurred at Darly Road in Maradana yesterday. Video broadcast on a local television channel showed police officers ordering four individuals found without valid curfew passes to cross their arms and pull their ears while standing up and sitting down.
Police Media Unit said an investigation was launched regarding the video and a Sergeant and a Constable attached to the Colombo City Traffic Division have been interdicted following this inquiry.
They are to face disciplinary action on charges of disobedience and disgraceful conduct.
