Transport Ministry to recruit retired railway officers, railways to be made an essential service

The Transport Ministry is taking steps to make the railway services an essentials service while retired railway officers are to be recruited towards the end of this week.

A programme to recruit these officers to the Railways Department will be held on June 28 from 9 am onwards at the Shalika Grounds in Narahenpitiya, the Ministry said.

Accordingly retired employees who served in these positions will be recruited to office :

Train Engine Drivers
Train Controllers
Station Masters
Rail Signal Inspectors
Rail Track Inspectors
