The Transport Ministry is taking steps to make the railway services an essentials service while retired railway officers are to be recruited towards the end of this week.
A programme to recruit these officers to the Railways Department will be held on June 28 from 9 am onwards at the Shalika Grounds in Narahenpitiya, the Ministry said.
Accordingly retired employees who served in these positions will be recruited to office :
