Travel restrictions imposed on Thavady village in Jaffna were lifted today morning after Provincial Healthcare authorities and Security forces evaluated the situation with no further coronavirus infected persons found. The village was under lock-down after a Coronavirus (COVID-19) infected person was identified last month.
At least 350 families were under the lock-down in the village where essential services were carried by cooperative societies and security forces.
A contractor from Thavady village who was associated with a Switzerland based Pastor identified to be infected with COVIO-19 last month and was admitted to IDH hospital in Colombo for further treatment. He is currently recovering from the infection and expected to be discharged in near future.
Northern Health authorities also said other villages such as Ariyalai and Navanthurai are still under lock-down mode and travel restrictions would be lifted after authorities evaluate the situation tomorrow. (N.Parameswaran)
