Measures are being taken to beef up the security around the island under a special plan in view of the festive season.
The Tri-forces and the Police have taken measures to beef up security under a special plan in view of the festive season, the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.
Accordingly the force have been given instructions to take all necessary measures to ensure security of the whole country, especially coverng areas where there is a large concentration of those of the Catholic community during the Christmas festival season, the statement said.
Foreseeing the necessity of strengthening security during the festive season, additional security personnel from the tri forces and the police have been deployed from the last two weeks.
In addition, tri forces and the Police are working closely with vigilant communities in the respective areas to provide security to places of work, public places, shopping malls and other places where people gather, the statement said.
