At least two persons have been arrested over an incident of offering Rs 5000 in exchange for polling cards in Mulliyamale, Beruwala last night, Police said.
According to Beruwala police, the suspects along with another person known ‘Roomi’ arrived at Mulliyamale mosque on Monday night and approached locals offering money in exchange for their polling cards. Locals were told they can hand over their polling cards by today morning.
Police recovered Rs 33, 950 in the vehicle along with propaganda materials of Rajith Senarathna and other two candidates.
The two suspects who were arrested last night remanded until August 18 after being produced before Kalutara Magistrate courts today.
