Two suspects who were transporting drugs including heroin in a luxury vehicle with a tag of a member of the Youth Parliament have been taken into custody by police in Kobaigane.
Police said 85 grams of heroin with an estimated street value Rs 1 million and Rs 85, 000 in cash as well as two vehicle number plates were taken into custody from the suspects' possession.
The suspects are residents of Awulgama, Wariyapola and police suspect they were preparing to distribute the heroin via vehicle to areas such as Nikaweratiya, Kobeigane and Wariyapola. Further investigations are being conducted by Kobeigane Police.

The Supreme Court today refused interim relief in an application filed by President’s Counsel Senaka Walgampaya seeking an Order from the Supreme Court compelling the President to appoint judges to fill the existing vacancies in the Court Of Appeal.
The deadline for online applications to the 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination has been extended until July 12, the Department of Examinations said.
