Two police constables attached to the Anuradhapura Police Division, who had solicited a bribe of Rs 10,000 from an individual have been arrested yesterday (Nov 6).
The arrests were made during a raid carried out by a team of Bribery Commission officers led by its Director SSP Priyantha Chandrasiri.
It is believed that the police officers had solicited the bribe to amend charges filed against a suspect accused of vandalizing properties, and to settle the case upon consensus with the complainant.
