Two policemen who sexually abused a woman at the Fort railway station were given a jail term of two years each and ordered to pay compensation amounting to Rs 200,000.
The jail term was suspended for five years and were also orderd to pay Rs 2,500 as state cost.
The two suspects pleaded guilty for the offence committed on July 9, 2011.
They were under the influence of liquor at the time of the incident, court was told.
In the event of their failure to pay the fine their jail term will be extended by two and half years each.
The judgment was delivered by High Court Judge Gihan Pilapitiya. (MG)
