Two inmates at the Welikada prison launched a protest yesterday (Aug 25) against the certain duties imposed on them by prisons officials.
Prisons officers said that the inmates have been convicted of narcotic related offences.
They had reportedly been warned for not carrying out the work entrusted to them recently.
Accordingly, the convicts had staged a protest by climbing on the roof of the Chapel Ward in the prison.
