Two individuals have been nabbed while attempting to smuggle 123 cartons of foreign cigarettes valued at Rs 22.8 million into the country today (Dec 3).
The suspects have been identified as 20-year old residents of Ragama and Angoda. They had flown from Dubai to Oman before reaching Sri Lanka at 5 am.
Customs officials had recovered more than 25,000 cigarette sticks from the suspects at the Bandaranaike International Airport.
Further investigations are underway.
