Officers of The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) arrested two Police constables for accepting monetary bribes yesterday in two separate incidents.
Accordingly, the CIABOC officers yesterday arrested a Police Constable attached to the Vilgamuwa Police Station when accepting a bribe of Rs.50, 000 to conduct an investigation on a complaint made in respect of loss of a power generator and to arrest the suspects.
On another instance, CIABOC officers arrested a Police Constable in Borella Police Station on 21.07.2019 when accepting a bribe of Rs.2000 to return the belongings of the complainant taken by the Police and to abstain from taking legal action against an incident of an assault.
