Two police officers who were wanted over the abduction and killings of two businessmen in Rathgama surrendered before the Galle Magistrates Court today (Mar 27).
The suspects are a former constable attached to the Southern Police Special Investigations unit by the name of Anil Kumara and another police officer identified as R. Vijitha Kumara.
A total of 17 suspects have been arrested in connection with the crime so far out of which 15 are officers attached to the Southern Police Special Investigations unit.
Meanwhile, the Galle Magistrates during today's hearing had rejected the bail application filed by the accused and had ordered the suspects to be further remanded until April 08.
The suspects have been charged for plotting and abetting the abduction of two businessmen identified as Asela Manjula Kumara and Rasith Chinthaka on January 23.
