Two Police Offcers who were on security duty at the Kegalle Court when a woman was brutally stabbed at the Court premises, have been suspended.
The police officers were suspended were in charge of inspecting those who entered the court premises. They were suspended for not performing their duties.
A mother of two in the Kegalle area died yesterday (Dec 17) after being stabbed by her husband within the court premises.
The victim was a 36 year old resident of Rambukkana. She had been stabbed by her husband when she was in court at the Kegalle Magistrate's Court.
The incident had taken place when the husband and wife had come to the Kegalle Magistrate's Court last morning to settle a family dispute between them, the police said.
Police have arrested the suspect, 40-year-old Rajapakse Pedige Jagath Pradeep Gunasena.
The deceased woman and the suspect were parents of two boys aged 5 and 11.
Kegalle Police Headquarters are conducting further investigations.
