Two sisters from a family died in a fatal road accident today when their motorbike collided with a pick-up truck in Parappankandal road, Mannar, Police said. Both were pronounced to be dead at the admission to the hospital.
The victims were identified as Santhiyoku Linda (40) and her sister Santhiyoku Terency (25), an employee of the Postal department. When the curfew was lifted today, the sisters went out to hospital to see the newborn baby of their younger sister and were returning home after purchasing some goods in the nearby market.
Police arrested the driver of the pick--up vehicle and further investigations are underway.
