The Sri Lankan Embassy in Lebanon states that two Sri Lankans were injured in the massive explosion that took place in Beirut, Lebanon yesterday.
Issuing a media release through the Ministry of Foreign Relations, the embassy added that it was awaiting further information from Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health regarding the condition of the injured. Further developments on the incident will be conveyed upon the receipt of the information, the embassy added.
As a result of the sudden explosion, minor damages have occurred at the premises of the Sri Lanka Embassy in Beirut and in the residences of the Embassy officials. However, the Embassy officials have not sustained any injuries.
Around 25000 Sri Lankans presently reside in Lebanon and the Sri Lanka Embassy continues to maintain 24-hour hotlines which are open for queries, it added.
