Two persons have been arrested for allegedly aiding and abetting the suspects involved in a shooting which occurred in Piliyandala, local media reports claimed.
According to the Police the individuals were arrested in Dharga Town and Ahungalla areas during a raid carried out last night. They were remanded until June 16 after being produced before the Kesbewa Acting Magistrate this morning.
A police constable was killed and five others were injured in a shooting near a state bank in Piliyandala on May 09. Unidentified persons who arrived on motorcycles had opened fire at the cops, it was reported. The deceased has been identified as an official attached to the Police Narcotics Bureau.
