United Nations (UN) Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will be visiting Sri Lanka next week to witness the ongoing development, resettlement and reconciliation process in the country.
"In the evening of the 31st, he will travel to Colombo in Sri Lanka, where he will meet with President Maithripala Sirisena, and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, and other members of the Government and Parliament," Stéphane Dujarric, Spokesman for the Secretary-General said.
He will also deliver a keynote speech at a public event on the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular Goal 16, dedicated to the promotion of peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development.
While in Sri Lanka, the Secretary-General will also visit a resettlement site in Jaffna in the North of the country, and participate in an event on the role of youth in reconciliation and coexistence in Galle, in the South of the island.
