The parties which make up the United National Front will contest at the upcoming Parliamentary election under a new leadership council and new party, Parliamentarian Rajitha Senarathna said.
Mr Senarathna made these comments while speaking at a UNF press briefing held yesterday (Nov 23) at the Parliamentary complex.
The UNF is currently composed of seven parties including the UNP, Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, Tamil Progressive Alliance and the Jathika Hela Urumaya.
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
