Universities Act to be amended in future

News

The Universities Act is to be amended in future in a bid to uplift the private higher education institutes in the country.

A special committee headed by the Higher Education Secretary had been appointed to make recommendations in this regard.

Accordingly, the Act is to be amended in line with the recommendations of the committee.

A cabinet proposal to this effect was put forward by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe before being approved this week.
