United National Party (UNP) parliamentarians have called on the party leadership to maintain strict discipline in the party.
This was in view of the upcoming parliamentary elections, a senior party member told the Times online.
The UNP parliamentary group has also discussed on entrusting Speaker Karu Jayasuriya with the duties of leading the party's general election campaign.
The senior UNPer said they hope to request Mr. Jayasuriya to lead the campaign while party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe stays out of the campaign.
