The United National Party is to launch a Sathyagraha campaign in Colombo against the current political activities of President Sirisena and PM Mahinda Rajapaksa.
UNP MP Akila Viraj Kariyawasam speaking to media said the Sathyagraha campaign will commence at the Vihara Maha Devi Park at 3pm today.
Meanwhile the JVP has organised a protest in Maharagama this evening under the theme, ‘Defeating Authoritarianism and Establishing Democracy’.
JVP Parliamentarian Bimal Ratnayake speaking to media said the rally commencing in Maharagama will be conducted in several parts of the country.
He said a large public rally will be held against Maithripala Sirisena’s and Mahinda Rajapaksa’s undemocratic actions and stressed the rally is being held for the sake of democracy itself.
