A UNP Working Committee meeting will not be summoned immediately despite a request from a section of the party members to summon such a meeting, a senior member of the party said.
The party member said that a report from lawyers, which was requested regarding the change of leadership powers will be considered first, before calling for a Working Committee meeting.
"Having a working Committee meeting this month is not possible. The meeting will likely be held only end of next month', the senior member said.
Further the member said, a committee was studying the possibility of reducing powers of the leader currently.
Previously a section of UNP MPs called for the summoning of a WC meeting to decide on the leader's position.
