Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has summoned a meeting of the UNP Parliamentary group and UNF leaders to take decision regarding two key positions in the party.
Accordingly a decision will be taken regarding the current positions of Deputy Leader Sajith Premadasa and Assistant Leader Ravi Karunanayake.
Party sources said it was likely that Mr Premadasa will retain his position, but another name is likely to be nominated as Assistant Leader.
The party leadership has already been spelling out that they need to increase the Sinhala - Buddhist voter base considering the recent election results.
