The May Day rally of the United National Party (UNP) would be held opposite the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) this year, State Minister J.C. Alawathuwala said.
He noted that the lawn opposite the CMC would be used to accommodate party supporters who are expected to arrive in large numbers this time.
“The party has decided to reveal certain important political decisions at this year’s rally,” the State Minister of Internal and Home affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government added.
Speaking to the press, Mr. Alawathuwala said they were confident the numbers at the May Day rally would exceed what was recorded at the UNP rally at the Galle Face Green during the 51-day political crisis.
Commenting on the rally even further, the State Minister said that necessary arrangements are being made under the guidance of UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe.
