The Elections Secretariat has said that 33 individuals have made their deposits so far to contest at the presidential election.
So far, 16 candidates have been nominated from recognised political parties, three from other political parties, and 14 as independent candidates.
Twelve candidates including Sajith Premadasa (New Democratic Front), Mahesh Senanayake (National People's Party), Kumara Welgama (Independent), and Chamal Rajapaksa (Sri Lanka Nidahasa Podujana Sandhanaya) made their deposits today.
Individuals hoping to contest at the poll could make their deposits until October 6.
