Update : Further to the shooting that took place at the CEYPETCO Dematagoda Head Office, Minister Arjuna Ranatunga and several officials have been prevented from leaving the head office by a group of protestors.
It was reported that an MSD security personnel opened fire injuring two individuals. According to the spokesperson at the National Hospital, one individual is in critical condition.
According to the Police Spokesperson, the MSD officer involved in the shooting is now in Police custody.
Since the shooting massive crowds have gathered and it is reported that the protestors have gathered at the entrance preventing anyone from leaving the headoffice.
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
