President requests IGP, Defence Secretary to resign - sources
President Maithripala Sirisena has requested Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara and Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando to resign from their respective positions, sources close to the president said.
In his address to the nation yesterday (Apr 23), President Sirisena said that certain top posts in the country’s defence sector would be subjected to changes within the next 24 hours.
