UPFA MP Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said that President Maithripala Sirisena, during the meeting with SLFP and SLPP members a short while ago had reiterated that he will not form a coalition government with Ranil Wickremesinghe again.
Speaking to Times Online, MP Abeywardena said that his party would announce its decision after 5 pm tomorrow (Dec 14).
He further said President Sirisena had told SLFP MPs who had held ministerial portfolios under the previous government to give up hopes, if they had any, of forming a coalition with Mr. Wickremesinghe.
"The President said that he had learnt a lesson by working with Ranil (Wickremesinghe)" MP Abeywardena further said.
He also said that the President felt the Supreme Court verdict deprived the people of their chance to vote.
"However, the President said that we cannot act against the verdict of the Supreme Court" the UPFA MP said.
