Using mobile phones to cheat during O/L exam - CID to take over inquiry

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundara has ordered that the investigation regarding students allegedly using mobile phones to cheat during the current GCE Ordinary Level (O/L) Examination be handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Two alleged instances have so far been reported of candidates using mobile phones smuggled into the exam halls to cheat during the exam. The incidents have been reported from Anuradhapura and Colombo.
